Removal of Grades of 4.0 or EXT
A grade of 4.0 may be removed by successful repetition of the course, or by passing the re-examination. Students who pass the re-examination shall be given a grade of 3.0, and those who fail, a grade of 5.0. Only one re-examination is allowed, to be taken within the prescribed period. If a grade of 4.0 is not removed within the prescribed period, credit for the course may be earned only by repeating and passing it.
A grade of 4.0 given for the first semester work of a two-semester course shall be converted to a grade of 3.0 if the student passes the second semester part of the same course in the same academic year. If the student fails, the grade of 4.0 which he received for the first semester work shall be converted to a grade of 5.0. There shall be a regular period for removing grades of 4.0 or EXT before the start of each semester.
The examination for the removal of grades of 4.0 or EXT may be taken without fee: (1) during the regular final examination period if the course is included in the schedule of final examinations; and (2) during the removal examination period, viz., the period covering the first two weeks of registration of each semester.
Removal examinations may be taken at other times upon notification of the faculty handling the course and recommendation of the Faculty Dean and upon payment of a removal fee. Students not in residence shall pay the registration fee on top of the examination fee (where required) in order to be entitled to take the removal examination.
A grade of 4.0 or EXT may no longer be improved after the end of the third regular removal period immediately following the semester/term in which the grade was incurred.
A grade of 4.0 received after removing a grade of EXT, however, must be removed within the remaining portion of the prescribed period for the removal of the original grade of EXT.
Students who need to remove a grade of 4.0 or EXT must accomplish an official request for removal/completion at the Learning Center where they are enrolled.
