163 to Graduate at UPOU
The U.P. Open University held its 8th Commencement Exercises on 28 August 2004 at the D.L. Umali Hall, UP Los Baños, College, Laguna. The 2004 graduation rites has the theme “Fulfilling the Virtual Promise.”
Commissioner Virgilio L. Peña, Chair of the Commission on Information and Communication Technology,was the commencement speaker.
The graduates came from the following degree programs: Diploma in Environment and Natural Resources Management (26); Diploma in Research and Development Management (24); Master of Public Health (17); Diploma in Math Teaching (16); Diploma in Computer Science (13); Master of Professional Studies in Development Communication (10); Master of Public Management (10); Master of Environment and Natural Resources Management (9); Diploma in Language Studies for Teachers (8); Diploma in Science Teaching (7); Doctor of Philosophy in Education (7); Associate in Arts (4); Diploma in Social Studies Education (4); Master in Hospital Administration (4); Master of Arts in Education (1); Master of Arts in Nursing (1); Master in Information Systems (1); and Diploma in Agriculture (1).
The UPOU also hosted a cultural presentation in honor of the graduating students on 27 August 2004 at the Riceworld Auditorium, International Rice Research Institute, Los Baños, Laguna. Mr. Gary Granada and the UPOU Chorale serenaded the graduates.
