UPOU 12th Graduation

On 24 May 2008, the UP Open University will hold its 12th Commencement Exercises at the Oblation Park, UPOU, Los Baños, Laguna. The Centennial Graduating Class will be the first batch of UPOU graduates who will have their commencement ceremonies at the University's headquarters.

Hon.Rolando G. Andaya, Jr., the Secretary of the Department of Budget and Management will be this year's commencement speaker. His father, the late Congressman Rolando A. Andaya, Sr. of the first district of Camarines Sur, was a firm advocate of distance education in the country and has given substantial financial support during his term to help propel the establishment of the UPOU in 1995.

UPOU Class 2008 is composed of 173 graduates, four of whom belong to the Chancellor's List and two of whom are in the Dean's List. The graduates are from the following degree programs:

• Diploma in Environment and Natural Resources Management
• Diploma in Science Teaching
• Diploma in Mathematics Teaching
