UP Open University Celebrates 13th year

On 23 February 2008, the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) will turn 13 years old. To celebrate this milestone, the university has prepared various activities to be held in its headquarters in Los Banos, Laguna on 20 February 2008. The theme of the celebration is “Matibay na Ugat, Mayabong na Sanga.”

The highlight of the celebration is the groundbreaking for the UPOU Centennial Center for Digital Learning and the UPOU Centennial Plaza. This will be led by National Artist Napoleon Abueva, UP President Emerlinda R. Roman, UP Faculty Regent Felix Librero, and UPOU Chancellor Grace J. Alfonso.

On the same day, UPOU will also launch a new book titled Distance Education in the Philippines: Issues and Concerns authored by Dr. Felix Librero. (Luisa A. Gelisan, OC)
