UP Centennial Lecture Series
In commemoration of UP's 100th year, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs spearheads the holding of UP Centennial Lecture Series that will be held throughout 2008. The lecture series will feature talks/public lectures of distinguished scholars, academicians, and personalities from various fields.
The Centennial Lectures are divided into four categories. The first category will have 12 UP Centennial Fellows as speakers. They will do a critique on the university, i.e., its achievements, failures, shortcomings, etc. While the second category will have Centennial Lecturers who will speak on their views about UP. The third category will be lectures by distinguished fellows/individuals from abroad. The last are thematic or issue oriented lectures such as global warming, women, education, poverty, peace, and indigenous people.
The lectures will be held in various campuses of UP, but will be beamed live to all campuses so that the speakers and the audience will be able to interact with each other wherever they may be. The lecture series is open to the public and for those who cannot go to any UP campus, they may watch the lectures via web streaming. The web address is http://dilc.upd.edu.ph/streaming/
Dr. Grace Javier-Alfonso, the UPOU Chancellor, directs the Centennial Lecture Series. She is assisted by her production team from UPOU’s Multimedia Center . (Luisa A. Gelisan, OC).
