UPOU is founding member of the Philippine Community eCenter Academy

The UP Open University is one of the founding members of the Telecenter.Org-Philippine Community eCenter Academy (TPCA). The University was invited by the Commission on Information and Communication Technology (CICT) to be one of the academy's members, in recognition of UPOU's critical role in the realization of the Philippine Community eCenter Roadmap for 2008-2010.

The academy is a consortium of ICT4D and CeC-related training and content/service providers that is meant to address the clamor of the growing number of Community eCenters nationwide for continuous capacity building of its management and staff members. It shall be the country's premier learning and training resource center for Community eCenters (CeC) and shall directly respond to one of the PhilCeC Roadmap's goal of ensuring the availability of competent CeC knowledge workers from 2008 and beyond.

The other members of the Philippine eCenter Academy are the International Research Development Center, Development Academy of the Philippines, Asian Institute of Journalism and Communications, National Telehealth Center, Open University for Philippine Agriculture, Intel Technology Philippines Incorporated and Microsoft Philippines Incorporated. (Luisa A. Gelisan, OC).
