FMDS holds Online MOODLE Workshop

To train the faculties-in-charge and tutors on the use of the various features of Moodle, the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) has organized an online workshop for its faculty and affiliate faculty members. The workshop which started on 3 April will run for one month, up to 6 May 2008.

Moodle is an open source course management system that can help educators create effective online learning communities. It is the platform being used by UPOU for its myPortal@upou: Virtual Learning Center.

To start the workshop, two half-day face-to-face orientation sessions were held. One on 3 April 2008 at the CICT Building, UP Diliman for the group based in Diliman and Manila and another one on 4 April at the Interactive Learning Center in UP Los Baños for the group based in Laguna. Aside from the online sessions through myPortal, online discussions among the trainees and trainer will be conducted every Thursday, from 12 noon to 1:00 pm, and from 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Prof. Juvy Lizette M. Gervacio, a full-time faculty member and PDA for Technical Support of FMDS, serves as the facilitator of the ongoing Moodle workshop. The online course materials were developed by InWent, Capacity Building International, Germany. (Luisa A. Gelisan, OC)
