Suplido receives International Publication Awards
Dr. Maria Lurenda Suplido, Deputy Director of the Multimedia Center and a full-time faculty member of the Faculty of Management and Development Studies, is one of this year's recipients of the President's International Publication Award.
Dr. Suplido received the award for her article " Correlation between Blood Ethylenethiourea and Thyroid Gland Disorders among Banana Plantation Workers in the Philippines", which was published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives in January 2004. Dr. Suplido co-authored the paper with Dr. Lynn Panganiban, Dr. Nelia Cortes-Maramba, Dr. Carissa Dioquino, Dr. Herbert Ho, Dr. Ana Francisco-Rivera, and Dr. Ailyn Manglicmot-Yabes.
The University of the Philippines System gives the International Publications Award to UP researchers who are able to publish articles in international (ISSI) journals. It is meant to encourage productivity and excellence among faculty and REPS.The award is in line with the Academic Distinction Fund initiated by UP President Francisco Nemenzo in November 1998.
