ODL Best Practices for Poverty Reduction

This is a synthesis of the proceedings that summarizes the main discussions that took place during the ODL for Agricultural Development and Rural Poverty Reduction Workshop held from June 28-29, 2005 in Bangkok, Thailand. The paper highlights what has been learned about the relationship between ODL and agricultural development/rural poverty reduction. Lessons learned from India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, the South Pacific, FAO-Rap and Unesco APEID are enumerated in this paper.

ODL Best Practices for Poverty Reduction Workshop Executive Summary

This paper comprises the objectives and activities of the workshop held from 28-30 June 2005 in Bangkok, Thailand with financial support from the Commonwealth of Learning (COL). There were a total of twelve participants at the workshop. Five researchers contributed background papers for discussion. Three representatives of UNESCO Bangkok, and three representatives of the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific took part. Dr. Scott McLean participated as the lead researcher for the COL project. Conclusions and recommendations drawn from the preliminary research from participating countries are included as well.
